Log Line: While being hunted, a cowardly troll learns to be valient.

A verbally abusive Troll lives under a bridge, scaring a Kid away from crossing it. The bridge is the only safe way to traverse across the treacherous crevasse separating the town from the bounty of herbs and food on the other side. After seeing and grabbing a bounty poster for the Troll, a Hunter goes to rid the bridge of the monster living under it. After a fight between the two, the Hunter gets the upper hand on the Troll and gravely wounds him. Fearing for his life, the Troll runs into the forest to escape the Hunter. Believing the Troll to be a dead man walking, the Hunter returns to the townsfolk for his reward. Losing steam from his injuries, the Troll passes out in the middle of the forest, staring up at the sky.

A kind old lady is strolling through the forest, collecting a cornucopia of herbs and flowers while checking on the various denizens of the forest, when she stumbles upon the unconscious and wounded Troll. Seeing him as a wounded animal in need of care, she drags him away to her home in order to nurse him back to health. The Troll wakes up inside of the old lady’s house startled and aggressive. The old lady (referred to as “Grandma” going forward) attempts to calm him down to continue mending his wounds, but he constantly refuses her help as he attempts to leave. Weakened by his wounds, he barely gets to the front door before falling to his knees. In pain and understanding that he’s in no condition to return to his bridge, he begrudgingly allows Grandma to continue to heal him, bringing him food while she continues to tend to his injuries. After having healed up enough, the Troll is grateful to Grandma, so he attempts to assist her while she gardens. Unfortunately, the Troll is heavy handed and clumsy as he crushes every flower or herb he tries to pick, and the same outcome happens when he attempts to collect fruits and vegetables as well. Noticing his issues and growing frustration, Grandma shows the Troll how to use a softer touch to tend to the garden. For the next few days, the Troll practices using a softer touch, learning the importance of a gentle hand and kindness. Where the Troll used to destroy an apple in his grasp, he now carefully picks them from trees to share with Grandma. Instead of roughly stomping through flowers and herbs, the Troll now carefully plucks them, conserving them to use with Grandma. Noticing his growth and appreciating his help, Grandma allows the Troll to assist her with her most important task: taking care of injured forest animals. The Troll carefully helps pull a small bandage off of an injured bird’s wing before releasing it back into the forest. With a change of mind and perspective, the Troll continues to help Grandma, taking a list to gather specific herbs and check specific traps in the forest.

As the Troll is gathering plants and checking the traps near a deep crevasse, the Hunter notices the Troll still alive. Believing that he’s still a terror to the townsfolk and not wanting to leave a job unfinished, the Hunter attempts to sneak up on the Troll to attack him. However, the Troll unknowingly sidesteps the Hunter’s attack, sending him careening off the cliff next to them. The Troll saves him from the precarious cliff-side, proving to the Hunter how much he’s grown. The next day, the Kid who had tried to cross the bridge before is attempting to again when a large shadow looms over them. As he turns around, he’s greeted by the reformed Troll who escorts them across.
